It's dry rendered and carefully filtered for purity, resulting in a clean, nutrient-dense ingredient that closely supports the skin barrier.
- Organic Jojoba Oil - Shelter's organic golden jojoba oil is cold-pressed and naturally rich in essential fatty acids. Its structure closely resembles the skin's natural sebum, allowing it to absorb easily while supporting balanced hydration.
- Grade A, USDA Certified Organic Vanilla Bean Pods - Shelter's vanilla beans are Grade A, USDA Certified Organic, ethically sourced from Madagascar. They use the whole bean pod, allowing its full aromatic profile to develop naturally over time. The result is a rich, resinous, and slightly sweet scent that feels warm, comforting, and true to the ingredient itself.
- Vitamin E - Shelter's Vitamin E is naturally sourced and non-GMO. It is a natural antioxidant and a small amount is used to extend shelf life.
HOW TO USE
Directions: Use the spatula to scoop a small amount and apply all over body. Start with a small amount and use more, as needed.
Storage: Store in a cool dry place. This product contains only natural ingredients, and is thus an ambient texture. Be sure to not leave it in a hot and humid place for an extended period of time.
Packaging: Shelter's No.1 Vanilla Tallow Body Butter is packaged in a dark, frosted glass jar to prevent oxidation with an embossed metal lid. Each jar comes with a custom engraved stainless steel spatula for easy application.

We recommend storing your jar in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Because this body butter is made only with natural ingredients, the texture may soften in warmer environments and firm up in cooler temperatures.
Avoid prolonged exposure to heat or humidity, and keep water out of the jar to maintain freshness.
Because this formula is completely natural, softening can happen during warm-weather shipping. If your jar arrives warm or softened, place it in the fridge for 30 minutes, then let it return to room temperature before use.
A change in texture does not affect the quality of the product.
The tallow is dry rendered and double filtered for maximum purity and quality. Dry rendering uses low, controlled heat without added water, helping preserve the integrity of the tallow and create a cleaner, more stable final product.
No. 1 Vanilla Tallow Body Butter has a soft, vanilla scent. It is scented with whole vanilla bean pods. The tallow is dry rendered and double filtered, there is no beefy scent.
The texture is best compared to a soft, whipped butter. It melts easily into the skin on contact and leaves skin feeling nourished, smooth, and hydrated.
Because it's an ambient formula, the texture may feel softer in warmer temperatures and firmer in cooler ones.
Beef tallow mimics the natural moisture barrier of your skin and thus absorbs quite well. If you use a small amount, it will fully absorb, but you can also use more to attain a glaze on your skin. I prefer a thick layer, but it's entirely up to what you like!
*Note that if you use a lot on your arms, you may see excess in your elbow crease. This is entirely normal and you can easily rub the excess into your skin.

While formulated for the body, it can be used on the face depending on your skin type. Tallow is rich in fatty acids and may be comedogenic for some, so we recommend patch testing or limiting use to the body if you are acne-prone.
Beef tallow is incredibly self-preserving and your jar lasts up to 6 months, following suggested storage. Be sure to not introduce water/moisture into your jar.
