What is unflavored toothpaste?
Davids unflavored toothpaste uses their proprietary Hydroxi™ formula, but they leave out any added flavors. No mint, no cinnamon, no orange, no added flavors of any kind.
So what does Davids unflavored toothpaste taste like?
While any flavoring ingredients are not added, that doesn't mean that the unflavored toothpaste has zero taste. Even water has a flavor of some kind. You'll be tasting the base ingredients without any flavors masking them.
One of the ingredients is baking soda, which helps to neutralize acids, reduce bacteria, and balance oral pH. This helps fight plaque, freshen breath, and counteract enamel erosion caused by acidic conditions.
However, baking soda, along with some other ingredients, can also change what you taste depending on the temperature of your mouth, your saliva flow, your tastebud count, what you ate recently, time of day, and multiple other factors. It could taste bitter, sweet, salty, or so on.
